The Best Time to post on social media

A question I often get asked is 'when is the best time to post on social media?' This is a hard question to answer as it varies depending on your industry and your specific audience but, yes there are certain times that are best to post. The key is to work out when your target audience is most active on social media, to increase the likelihood of them seeing and engaging with your posts. Always look at your own analytics as the best day and time to post is different for every business.

To give you an idea of when the best time is to post on social media, below is a break down of the data collected from a number of social media marketing management tool leaders, that suggest the best times and days to post on the different social media platforms.

Facebook

  • The best days to post on Facebook are Mondays and Wednesdays

  • The best times are between 9 a.m and 12 p.m

  • Most consistent engagement on Facebook is Monday through Friday from 9 a.m - 4 p.m

  • The worst day to post on Facebook is Sunday. Sunday has the lowest engagement states so try to avoid this day

  • The worst time to post is between 9 p.m -4 a.m

Twitter

  • The best days to post on Twitter are Mondays and Thursdays

  • The best times are between 11 a.m - 1 p.m

  • Most consistent engagement on Facebook is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m - 4 p.m

  • The worst day to post on Twitter is Saturday

Instagram

  • The best day to post on Instagram is on Wednesdays

  • The best times to post on Instagram 10-11 a.m

  • Most consistent engagement on Instagram is Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m- 3 p.m

  • The worst day to post on Instagram is Sunday

Linkedin

  • The best day to post on LinkedIn is Wednesday followed by Tuesday

  • The best times to post are 9-10 a.m and 12 p.m

  • Most consistent engagement on LinkedIn is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m - 2 p.m

  • The worst day to post on LinkedIn is Sunday

  • The worst time to post is between 10 p.m and 3 a.m

Stats like these tend to change over time as social media platforms become more or less popular. I would always recommend looking at the analytics on your own social media platforms to determine what the best time and day to post is. The majority of social media platforms will tell you when your target audience is most active, all you have to do is access the analytics.
